The Humanity5k Race Info
We are looking forward to seeing you at the inaugural Humanity5k Saturday May 4th, 2024. Our organizers have important information to share with you leading up to race day.
Online registration for Humanity5k opens 9.16.23. Take advantage of the Early Bird Special for $19 through December 30th. Registration fees increase to $30 dollars beginning January 1, 2024, $35 March 1-March 31, $40 and April 1-May 2. Registration is available Friday May 3rd for $50 from 10:00am-2:00pm at Moraine Valley Community College Building M at 9000 West College Parkway, Palos Hills, IL 60465. Registration cost is $50. Race day registration (5/4) is also available at race location from 7:00am-8:30am between buildings C and D. Registration cost is $50.
Packet pick up
Packet pick up is available Friday (5.3) from 5pm-9:00pm at Moraine Valley Community College Building M at 9000 West College Parkway, Palos Hills, IL 60465. All students 14 and up who register must present a student ID at Packet Pick Up. Or, the person who is picking up race bib on behalf of the student must present student ID during pick up. Packet pick up is also available on race day from 7:00am-8:30am at MVCC between buildings C and D. We strongly encourage you to avoid the lines on Sunday and pick up your bib and t-shirt Friday May 4th.
The race will begin rain or shine at 9:00am at MVCC between buildings C and D. The runners will start first and the walkers will begin immediately after.
5k Runners Course
The 5k run begins between buildings C and D at MVCC.
-You will run about 150 yards and make a sharp right turn on College Parkway.
-Turn right on to 107th street.
-Turn right on 88th Ave. You will turn around on 88th Ave and head back towards 107th street.
-Turn left on 107th street.
-Turn left on Keen Ave. You will turn around on Kean Ave. and head back towards 107th street.
-Turn right on 107th street.
-Turn right into Moraine Valley Community College and an immediate sharp right on Moraine Valley Parkway.
-Turn left and head towards the finish line.
1.5-mile walking course
The walkers will begin directly after the runners take off at MVCC between buildings C and D.
-You will walk about 150 yards and make a left on to the MVCC trail.
-Stay on the trail and walk the beautiful campus until you reach the start/finish line area.
-WALKERS must yield to the left and stay inside the coned area during the finish line portion to make sure there is no interference with the runners. This is for the safety of the walkers and the runners.
100 Sprint for Palestine
The 100-yard kids dash will begin to organize participants at 9:30am near the stage area. There will be a first, second, and a third call for kids to check in from 9:30am to 9:45am. Multiple runs will take place with ages 5-6-, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-year-old races. Please note our volunteers will do their best to organize all age groups but we cannot guarantee the ages will be accurate for each heat. Once all participants are organized in their age group, our volunteers will walk them to the start line located about 100 yards west of the start/finish line.
A medal will be awarded for first place finishers in each heat.
Our friends from Pita Inn will be providing the amazing spread of food for the post-race party located on the east end of buildings C and D.
Humanity5k is a chip time event with first place trophies awarded to the overall male and female champions. First place medals will be awarded to age group categories 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69. And 70 years and up.
